　2006年にリーグ制覇をはたした際に、大の中日ファンであるスタジオジブリの鈴木敏夫さんが、落合監督に尋ねたことがあるそうです。

「なぜ、愛想が悪いのか？」と。

　表情が一瞬、こわばった。落合監督は、ぼくの目をじっと見つめると、ゆっくりと丁寧に答えを言ってくれた。「オレのひとことで、選手は調子を崩す」。それだけ聞けば十分だった。

　みんなに優しく、公正であろうとすればするほと、人というのは、孤独で、無口になってしまうのかもしれません。
